Our first event for 2024 is with powerhouse author Bri Lee, whose three books of critically acclaimed non-fiction have changed the way we see the legal system’s handling of sexual assault cases; access and education; and beauty in Australia (Eggshell Skull, Who Gets to be Smart, and Beauty respectively). Now, Lee has turned her hand to fiction, and is about to release her debut novel, The Work, through Allen & Unwin.
The Work is a stunning novel about art, power, love and money set across Sydney and New York. It is about the biggest intersections of life: of art and commerce, of intimacy and distance, of talent and entitlement, and of labour and privilege. Dazzling, funny and unforgettable, it is an epic and forensic exploration of modern love and passion, politics and power.
Bri Lee will be in conversation with Joel Carnegie, host of The Storymakers Institute podcast. This will be a live recording event.
Tickets are $30 and include wine and nibbles on the night.
