A few snaps from our wildly wonderful evening with Jamila Rizvi and Rosie Waterland, discussing their new co-authored book, ‘Broken Brains.’

This event was held at the Geelong Library & Heritage Centre in front of an audience of 200 readers, who eagerly listened to Jamila and Rosie’s stories of ill health, endurance, encounters with the health care system, ideas and advice for those dealing with a big diagnosis or ongoing chronic illness… It was such an uplifting and comforting evening, and the feedback as been excellent.

This event was held in partnership with @wheelercentre as part of their regional programming. Big thanks to the Library and the Wheeler Centre for having us involved.

This Thursday 8 May! Join us at the Geelong Library for a Wheeler Centre regional programming event: Jamila Rizvi and Rosie Waterland on their co-authored book, ‘Broken Brains.’

Jamila and Rosie will tell their stories of living with two different kinds of “broken brains,” and how they’ve balanced long term ill health with work, family, relationships and LIFE. This book is such an affirming read full of wisdom and comfort, and packed with a myriad of tools for managing and communicating effectively while managing chronic illness. Highly recommend this talk and book for anyone who has been sick, as well as their loved ones, employers, leaders, policymakers and medical professionals.

Jamila and Rosie will be in conversation with Book Bird store manager, Charlotte.

This is what we love! Brilliant writers discussing their books to a huddle of keen readers after hours, all suitably satiated with bubbles and nibbles.

This was the first event we’ve held in the shop in over five years. It was a bit of an experiment to see how the space felt after so long, and we’re happy to be able to say it felt good. All the tickets sold, and thanks to the conversation with Jane Rawson and Greg Day we’d say it was money well spent!

Last night’s performance of ‘The Dictionary of

Last night’s performance of ‘The Dictionary of Lost Words’ at @geelongartscentre was simply remarkable! The script, the cast, and the stunningly beautiful set make this a must-see adaptation of a beloved historical novel.

We brought along copies of Pip Williams’ best selling books, the play script, and a selection of handpicked titles to complement the themes of the show so that theatre-goers had an opportunity to peruse books during intermission. Was a blast!

Looking forward to being there again tonight at GAC. Big thanks to the staff for making us so welcome ✨
