We are so excited to announce our first in-store event for 2025: a celebration of contemporary nature writing with award-winning authors Gregory Day (VIC) and Jane Rawson (TAS).

We will be discussing Greg Day’s poetry collection ‘Southsightedness’ (@transitloungepublishing) and Jane Rawson’s memoir ‘Human/Nature’ (@newsouthpublishing) on Wednesday 30 April, 6pm.

Jane and Greg will be in conversation with bookshop manager, Charlotte. Book sales and signings will be available on the night.

Tickets: $18 (+bf) via Eventbrite. Follow the link in our bio.

Attendees will also be able to browse the shop before and after the talk and receive 10% off any purchases made on the night.

We had a superb night last night speaking with Mark Smith at Belmont Library about his latest novel, ‘Three Boys Gone.’ We gained such insight into all the ideas and questions that informed this heart-in-mouth thriller—big themes such as duty of care, responsibility (to others and to oneself), misogyny and discrimination, and the professional versus the private self.

Big thanks to everyone who came along and made this a booked-out event. And of course to the Library for hosting.

Book Bird Charlotte has been on an Elizabeth Strou

Book Bird Charlotte has been on an Elizabeth Strout binge of late, reading all of her novels TOTALLY out of order, but apparently it doesn’t really matter.

You can go chronologically through the lives of Strout’s memorable characters Olive Kitteridge, Lucy Barton and Bill Burgess—or not. Either way, you will fall in love with these rather ordinary people and their ordinary lives as they navigate the trials of everyday existence. It’s Strout’s incomparable writing that really makes these novels so special.

Hard to compare her to anyone else, but Charlotte thinks readers of Tom Lake by Ann Patchett will love Strout. Highly recommend.
