Between a Wolf and a Dog

Book Bird rating: 5 Birds

5 words: Real life explored through fiction

Who will love this: Fans of well-written, honest literature with well-developed and equally flawed characters

Favourite character and why: Ester’s experience of trying to make sense of her sisters’ reckless ways really resonated with me. I also loved the twins – even though they were secondary characters in the novel, I loved the way Georgia Blain described their quirks and behaviour in such an endearing way

Best bit: When Ester glimpses the possibility of happiness again and opens herself up to it

Last word: I really loved this novel. Written with such clean, precise language with no superfluous flowery detail. A surprisingly quick and easy read too but one that really resonates with a profound depth
